The inspiration, motivation and the link to hypnosis (Article I)
First, my research has focused on how people learn, but inevitably, my knowledge has increased in other areas. One result is that I believe that hypnotism is being ignored as an important natural aid for healing, for no other reason than lack of understanding of how it works.
The main purpose of this series of articles, therefore, is disseminate knowledge and a basic understanding of hypnotism, in the hope that it will be less marginalized and can be used to best effect for the benefit of all.
Let me start with this question – Who has seen the wind? We can see the wind – or just see objects that move?
Most people accept there is no such thing as electricity, although that can not be seen and not universally accepted. If only the same applies to hypnosis! A remarkable number of people refuse to accept the existence of hypnotism. They feel it is an invisible power, and certainly do not understand, so we reject.
Let me make one thing perfectly clear from the start: the hypnosis does not exist. It is a natural phenomenon common to all. All hypnosis experience on an almost daily basis.
Remember the times that you have awakened in a strange room, and for a few seconds his brain tries to make sense of the situation? I remember one time I'd been watching television and his head fell forward and hit back to consciousness? In those moments we have experienced a brief state of hypnosis.
It's not magic voodoo or any other evidence is given crazy sometimes. Moreover, it is perfectly safe when used sensibly. It is the misuse by people who do things otherwise innocent dangerous. A pen is not dangerous unless someone decides to put it in the eye of another.
It can be for the benefit of some to keep for themselves knowledge of hypnosis and how it works, or even to drown her in mystery. Some hypnotists time, for example, prefers to think they have special abilities. Many stage hypnotists have little more understanding of hypnosis that you gather by reading this article. What we have learned is how to motivate and inspire Members of the public to believe they have a special ability to hypnotize.
People can make huge profits by having an understanding of what hypnotism is and how far surpasses often give people reasons to keep the "secret".
For decades, companies hid the dangers of snuff smoking by the public. It was not by others that the public know of the dangers that could finally make an informed and intelligent decision as to whether they wished to continue smoking or not.
People power is making government introduce legislation to ban smoking in public places. This only happened because the public in general were aware of the dangers of passive smoking.
It is through the creation of mystery that protect the public. It is by educating them and then giving them a choice.
Article two in this series will describe how hypnotism was used to motivate and inspire others in history.
